Dashboard default view

I would like the dashboard to show me which items are in progress, delayed, or near on the horizon by default. To me, it's not helpful to see everything already completed. This requires me to apply filters every time to see the information I am looking for. It would be nice also to show everything as of date I am viewing the dashboard. For example, I don't need to see things that happened a few months ago.
